Sarah Palin Tour Makes Stop In Boston
BOSTON (CBS/AP) - In the midst of her "One Nation Tour" up the East Coast, former Alaska governor Sarah Palin made an unexpected stop in Boston on Thursday.
Palin visited the Old North Church, the Paul Revere House, talked to residents in the North End and stopped by the Bunker Hill Monument before heading to New Hampshire.
She also told reporters she was not trying to step on Mitt Romney's political toes on the same day the former Republican Massachusetts governor officially announced his White House bid in New Hampshire.
Palin said if she thought Romney would be offended by the timing and proximity of her visits, she would have canceled them.
She said her trip was not intended to be a prelude to a 2012 presidential run.
On her website, Palin expressed her thoughts as her group drove through the severe weather in western Massachusetts on her way to Boston Wednesday night.
"Drove through the rough weather last night in Massachusetts, hoping folks are safe this morning as residents survey the aftermath. Our prayers are with the victims of yesterday's twisters and all those who are faced with what may seem insurmountable rebuilding challenges. The damage we saw was shocking."
