Sal DiMasi 'In Transit' From Federal Prison In Kentucky
BOSTON (AP) — Former Massachusetts House Speaker Salvatore DiMasi has left the federal prison in Kentucky where he's been held since last fall, but it's unclear where he is headed or if the move is permanent.
DiMasi is listed on the Federal Bureau of Prison's inmate locator as being "in transit."
A spokeswoman said the bureau does not provide further specific information on inmates and DiMasi's lawyer said he could not provide any details on his client's whereabouts.
DiMasi is serving an eight-year prison sentence.
He was convicted last June of conspiracy, extortion an honest services fraud.
The former speaker reported to the Federal Medical Center in Lexington, Ky., on Nov. 30, but had been seeking a transfer to a federal prison in Devens, Mass.
