Safety Advocate Says Lack Of Rumble Strips May Have Contributed To New Zealand Crash
BOSTON (CBS) - Three Boston University students were killed Saturday morning and five others were injured when a van they were traveling in swerved off a road in New Zealand.
WBZ NewsRadio 1030's Jeff Brown spoke with New Zealand road safety campaigner Clive Matthew-Wilson, who says his country is mourning the loss of the students.
He also says the lack of rumble strips "may" have contributed to the crash.

Matthew-Wilson says, "Although it was a good road and it was in good condition, it doesn't have rumble strips and it's very, very common for people to particularly at that time of the day, to lose attention for just a moment."

Matthew-Wilson says New Zealand's government has plans to install the rumble strips.
