Ryan Miller No Longer Sure He Suffered Concussion On Milan Lucic Hit
BOSTON (CBS) - Sabres goalie Ryan Miller said Monday he is no longer certain he suffered a concussion when he was hit by Bruins forward Milan Lucic during an in-game collision on Nov. 12.
He left that game, a Bruins win, after the second period and has not returned to the ice since.
After Miller went down, the Sabres said his injury was a concussion, and the team maintains that's the reason he has missed the last seven games.
Miller, who said he's not sure if he suffered a concussion from the hit, is more concerned with his neck injury.
"I don't know for certain what it was, but it felt like a good impact," Miller told the Buffalo News Monday. "It was more neck and something where I aggravated a disc in my neck pretty good and we had an MRI and CT-scan showing that which kind of backed that up and was the source of a lot of the tension and a lot of the discomfort. It definitely was limiting my range of motion."
There is no timetable for Miller's return. In 11 games this year, he is 5-6 with a 2.86 goals against average.
Lucic was not fined or suspended for the hit.
"While it's unfortunate that Miller was hurt I saw nothing egregious about this hit that would elevate it to supplemental discipline," NHL Senior Vice President of Player Safety and Hockey Operations Brendan Shanahan said after making his decision.
