Boston Celebrates Royal Wedding With Watch Parties

BOSTON (CBS) – Well-wishers soaked in the historic royal wedding early Saturday morning at watch parties in Boston.

Americans around the country gathered at hotels, bars, and other locations to celebrate the nuptials of Meghan Markle and Prince Harry.

In Boston, watch parties were held at the Fairmount Copley and Langham Hotel among other locations.

"It's the Super Bowl. It's the wedding Super Bowl," said Debbie Hoffman at the Fairmont Copley. "And we don't have royals so I think we are all smitten with it."

The hotel made sure every single guest felt like royalty. "We decided as soon as Harry and Meghan got engaged we wanted to do something big," said Lauren Soriano of the Fairmont Copley Plaza.

"It's absolutely beautiful. We went to a wedding here a few years ago and this feels like a wedding," said guest Jackie Murphy. "Every single thing the cake, every detail is awesome. The cutouts and the men when you walked in, it's hysterical, the whole package, it's awesome."

Just under 300 people came together to celebrate, dressing as if they too were headed to Windsor Castle.

"We went shopping for dresses and hats and she borrowed a fascinator from a gal that got hers in London," Hoffman said.

The festivities at the Langham also included a royal wedding photo booth.
