Rondo, Pierce To Play Ball For Obama
BOSTON (CBS) - Rajon Rondo will have a chance to show President Barack Obama how much his jump shot has improved later this month.
The Celtics point guard, along with team captain Paul Pierce, will join basketball Hall of Famer Michael Jordan for a celebrity basketball game on August 22 in New York as a fund-raiser for President Obama.
The Obama campaign bills the event as an chance to "meet the president — and shoot hoops with some of the best basketball players alive."
Also participating in the game will be Knicks' forward Carmelo Anthony, former NBA stars Alonzo Mourning and Patrick Ewing, and WNBA stars Sheryl Swoopes and Dawn Staley.
In his 2011 biography, Shaq Uncut, Shaquille O'Neal said it was criticism from Obama that caused Rondo to fall into his season-ended slump to the 2011 Celtics season.

The Celtics are no strangers when it comes to supporting Obama. Pierce, Kevin Garnett and former Celtic Ray Allen all voiced their support during the 2008 election. Allen, along with Celtics legend Bill Russell, also appeared at a Democratic National Convention event in Boston in 2011.
