Paul stuck to his basics during the meeting before hundreds of supporters at a country inn.

He said he stands for smaller government, reduced spending, freedom and prosperity.

Paul did not mention any of his opponents, but he did make a veiled reference to front-runner Mitt Romney.

"All the candidates support the status quo, and they basically have been on different sides of the issue," said Paul. "I do get the negative charges made, but nobody has challenged me on being a flip-flopper."

Paul said he believes the country is looking for something, in this case someone, completely different.
