Romney Pulling Away, Gingrich Falling In New NH Poll

BOSTON (CBS) - A new Rasmussen poll in New Hampshire shows Mitt Romney isn't giving up his large lead four days before the GOP Presidential Primary.

The poll released Friday shows Romney pulling away from the pack with 42 percent, 24 points ahead of Ron Paul.

But Rick Santorum and John Huntsman have made major gains. Santorum is at 13 percent coming off his tie with Romney in Iowa.

Huntsman, whose been campaigning exclusively in New Hampshire, is at 12 percent.

But the biggest surprise is Newt Gingrich's numbers.

He's now at 8 percent according to Rasmussen. Just a month ago that same poll had him at 22 percent, a drop of 14 points.

WBZ political analyst Jon Keller has an explanation.

"Have you ever looked back on your life and said, 'Gee, I used to love hot dogs, but then I ate too many of them and I learned to hate them. I think Newt Gingrich is like those hot dogs. The more people see of him and digest his personality and his message, the less they seem to like him."

Keller said the two remaining stumbling blocks for Romney are two national televised debates this weekend.
