Police: Text Message Led Rockland Husband To Kill Wife
ROCKLAND (CBS) - A text message apparently set off a Rockland man, leading him to kill his wife, police said Thursday.
Officers were called to Richard and Patricia Langley's home on Moncrief Road Wednesday evening. They found Patricia, 52, lying on the front lawn with a stab wound to her chest. A neighbor tried to stop the bleeding. Langley was rushed to a hospital where she died.
According to the police report released Thursday, when the officer asked Patricia what happened she said "my husband stabbed me."
Police say they found Richard Langley, 56, smoking a cigarette nearby.
As he was handcuffed and walked passed his dying wife, police claim he said "Die (expletive), die."
According to investigators, Langley admitted stabbing his wife in their living room with a kitchen knife after finding sexual text messages from another man.
Richard Langley is now charged with murder. He was arraigned Thursday afternoon in Hingham District Court and ordered held without bail.
Patricia Langley's brother told WBZ-TV she was the mother of four children and a teacher's aide for students with special needs.
A neighbor said the Langleys had lived on Moncrief Road for several years.
"Patricia, she was loved by everybody she was a good kid. She had her little dog down there that she always played with," neighbor Tom Furlong told reporters Thursday.
"Every time we saw them they were always smiling and happy. "
According to WBZ-TV's Sera Congi, Richard Langley had no criminal history and there were no restraining orders against him.
