Roche: Gronkowski To Undergo Surgery On Monday, Done For Season
BOSTON (CBS) - Rob Gronkowski's season is over.
WBZ-TV's Dan Roche is reporting the Patriots tight end will undergo surgery on his broken forearm on Monday, according to an NFL source.
Gronkowski re-fractured his left forearm in Sunday's 41-28 playoff win over the Houston Texans, bracing himself on a catch out-of-bounds. The tight end sat on the sidelines in obvious pain following the play, and after being checked out by the Patriots medical staff retreated to the New England locker room for X-Rays.
The original break cost Gronkowski five games during the regular season before returning in the Patriots' finale against the Miami Dolphins. He caught two passes, including a touchdown, in that game, but had a large wrap on the injured arm.
The news is a lot better on injured running back Danny Woodhead, as sources tell Roche the thumb injury he suffered on the Patriots first offensive play will not keep him out of Sunday's AFC Championship game against the Baltimore Ravens.
There is no update on rookie defensive end Chandler Jones, who suffered an ankle injury in the second quarter.
