Roche On Toucher & Rich: 'Wide Open Race' In AL East
The Red Sox open their regular season today in New York against the Yankees. WBZ-TV's Dan Roche is out in New York and he took some time to call into 98.5 The Sports Hub's Toucher & Rich to preview the game, discuss how the division could shake out and how he expects the Red Sox to do this season.
The division that seems to be up for grabs according to many predictions is the AL East. Some pick the Yankees to finish last, some pick the Yankees to be one of the wild cards and others say the Red Sox could grab the other. Some people don't believe the chemistry in Toronto and wonder if pitching can make up for weak hitting Rays.
As it stands now how does Roche see the AL East going?
"I think it's a wide open race. I think for the first time in a long time you can't just say that the Yankees and Red Sox will contend because both teams have major flaws and need everything or a lot of things to go right for them to be contenders."
Realistically what can we expect out of the Sox for the second half of the season. Plus, the guys took a closer look at the teams in the AL East.
