Roche: Gonzalez Finishes 2nd In Entertaining Home Run Derby
BOSTON (CBS) - One of the best parts of Monday night's Home Run Derby was the slo-mo replay used by ESPN to show the swings of the participants.
And, we got the treat to see the swing of Adrian Gonzalez of the Red Sox.
To watch his mechanics is sweet, to say the least. His swing is as perfect as they come from start to finish.
I don't think people around had any idea what the Red Sox were getting when Theo was able to pull the trigger back in December on the deal that finally brought him to Boston.
Meanwhile, I know people knock the heck out of the HR Derby, but it was entertaining Monday night.
Adrian Gonzalez tied an Derby Finals record with 11 home runs in the final round. It was a record that defending champ David Ortiz had tied last year as well.
And then, Robinson Cano stepped to the plate and promptly belted 12, a new record set by a Yankee. And the best part of it was watching Cano jump into the arms of his dad, Jose who threw to him.
Nice way to spend a summer evening...
