Mask-Wearing Robber Seen Running Out Of Malden 7-Eleven Arrested, Police Say
MALDEN (CBS) -- Police were able to arrest a suspect Tuesday afternoon less than 20 minutes after they say he robbed a convenience store in Malden--because, they say, they saw him running out of the store wearing a mask.
Robert Belliveau, 35, of Revere, was arrested and charged with unarmed robbery. He was expected to be arraigned in Malden District Court on Wednesday morning.
Malden Police said they saw the suspect running from the 7-Eleven on Eastern Avenue around 1 p.m., and that he matched the description of a suspect in a rash of similar robberies in the area.
Two officers chased the man to his car, which was around the corner on Waite Street, and he led them on a brief chase to the Malden-Revere city line. He was pulled over and arrested on Beach Street in Linden Square.
No injuries were reported during the chase, though two police cruisers and the suspect's vehicle were damaged.
Police said the same 7-Eleven was robbed a week ago by a suspect who also fled to a vehicle on Waite Street.
The incident remains under investigation.
