Rob Gronkowski Facing Off Against Darrelle Revis In Madden Cover Vote
BOSTON (CBS) -- The vote for the cover athlete of Madden 14 just got a whole lot interesting, as Rob Gronkowski is matched up against Darrelle Revis.
The Patriots' tight end dominated his first-round matchup against Antonio Brown, and he's now up against the Jets cornerback, who beat out Jamaal Charles in the first round.
Revis may have a tougher time than usual garnering fan support for his votes, as he is once again butting heads with the Jets and may or may not be requesting a trade.
With Revis' situation with the Jets appearing tenuous (as per usual), Patriots fans may vote for Revis in hopes that he appears on the cover wearing a Jets uniform while in real life he may be traded away to some other team. Why? Because Patriots fans rarely mind seeing embarrassment for the Gang Green.
Of course, there is the ever-present hesitance of fans to want to see their favorite player on the cover, due to the dangers that can result. But the so-called "Madden Curse" was sufficiently put to bed last season, after Calvin Johnson graced the video game's cover and went on to set the single-season record for receiving yards with 1,964.
