RIPD Latest Made-In-Massachusetts Movie Release
BOSTON (CBS) -- The stars of "R.I.P.D. Rest In Peace Department" have enjoyed giving Massachusetts a piece of the movie-making pie.
"It's nice to be outside of L.A.," Ryan Reynolds told WBZ NewsRadio 1030. "L.A. is a one-industry town. So when you come here, you get a little more diversity, and you get sights and sounds that you would otherwise not see."
The Bay State's tax credit for movie projects has drawn criticism over the years, but it's also drawn millions from Hollywood. In 2011, movie production in Massachusetts generated $175 million in business, including $113 million in wages, according to state officials.
"R.I.P.D." is one of several made-in-Massachusetts movies already released this year. In the Universal Studios production, a recently slain police officer joins a team of undead cops working for the Rest in Peace Department and tries to find the man who murdered him.
Bridges, who won a leading role Oscar in 2010 for his performance in "Crazy Heart," said Massachusetts was a great pick to film "R.I.P.D."
"Some of the locations just fit the scenes so perfectly," Bridges said.
