Rich Keefe's Fantasy Brief: Week 5 Studs

BOSTON (CBS) - Before looking ahead to Week 6, 98.5 The Sports Hub's Rich Keefe looks back and summarizes the top performers in Week 5.

"Peyton Manning and Demaryius Thomas -- just a ruthless combination if you had the two of them. In most scoring formats those were the two highest scoring players. Peyton had 4 touchdown passes and 479 yards, and of course two of those touchdowns and about half the yards went to Demaryius Thomas," said Keefe.

Manning and Thomas are two big name guys, but some lesser-known stars also put up big numbers on Sunday, players you likely had the misfortune of leaving on your bench.

"San Diego running back Branden Oliver had 19 carries, 114 yards and 1 touchdown. He also had a touchdown catch on four receptions for 68 yards. He had over 30 points in standard leagues. He was an absolute beast," said Keefe, who neglected to give Oliver the start. For you Oliver owners, he has a favorable matchup in Week 6 against Oakland.

Sam Bradford who? Austin Davis was this close to orchestrating a big comeback for St. Louis in Philadelphia, putting up some big points in the process.

"Davis had the second best quarterback week. Three touchdowns, 375 yards and did not throw an interception. He also had 30 yards rushing. It was announced last week that he would be the starter going forward, not Shaun Hill. He's not somebody I'd recommend playing every week, but Davis is someone to keep an eye on with the bye weeks approaching."

Now looking forward to Week 6, there's only two teams on the bye, but two very important teams at that.

"Kansas City and New Orleans. Lot of guys there, whether it's Jamaal Charles, Khiry Robinson, Drew Brees, Jimmy Graham, Travis Kelce and on down the line. We'll give you some replacement options tomorrow night on the Fantasy Brief," Keefe said to close the segment.
