Rich Keefe's Fantasy Brief: Defenses To Grab On The Week 4 Waiver Wire
BOSTON (CBS) - Week 3 is in the books, and now the focus has shifted towards the Thursday night game between New York and Washington to kick off Week 4.
But before that, fantasy owners are perusing the waiver wire and trying to one-up their opponents by adding a contributor to their roster.
Every night during the NFL season on 98.5 The Sports Hub's The Adam Jones Show, Rich Keefe breaks down the fantasy world.
On the latest installment of the Fantasy Brief, Keefe talks about his new strategy for picking defenses and who to grab on the waiver wire, based on position and priority.
"I have a new strategy, potentially, for this week, and that's streaming defenses. Last week I was lucky to get one right. I said the Falcons defense was the play and they were insane. They scored more points than everybody except Nick Foles and Andrew Luck in most leagues. I'll say it right now. I still like the Thursday Night defense strategy. Redskins at home against the Giants. I still like it. I know New York finally woke up. Eli Manning actually looked like a competent quarterback. But I still like the Skins at home. It's a short week. The Giants are turnover prone. I like that one," said Keefe.
Keefe also touched on other defenses with favorable matchups this week. Seattle is on a bye, so that's something to keep an eye on if you're a Seahawks defense owner.
"Take a shot at this one. It's going to happen three times this year. London game. The London game has been high scoring at times, but there's also been some duds in there. I don't think the players really like being over there. Specifically with this first London game it's the Miami Dolphins vs. Oakland Raiders. The Raiders already played New England this week. They didn't fly home. They went right to London. These poor bastards haven't been home in two weeks. I don't think they're gonna be thrilled about it. And they're a bad team. Miami also has to fly and 'go across the pond' as they say, but at least they aren't two weeks removed from their normal routine. I think Oakland is going to be such a fish out of water that they'll be a mess," said Keefe.
The Chargers are also hosting the Jacksonville Jaguars, who have surrendered the most points to opposing fantasy defenses.
"The three teams the Jaguars have faced have all put up big points defensively," said Keefe. "However, I think Blake Bortles could give them a shot in the arm. I don't think they are as much of a doormat as they were before without Bortles, but it's still a nice pickup."
If all those defenses are gone, and everybody in your league listens to advice from the Fantasy Brief, then Keefe has a couple other defenses for you to grab as well.
