RI Couple Arrested For OUI On Same Night In Separate Towns
LINCOLN, RI (CBS) - A Rhode Island couple spent part of Friday night in jail together after being arrested on separate drunk driving charges in two different towns.
At 9:25 p.m., Stephanie Souza, 43, of Warwick, was pulled over on Route 95 South in Cranston and arrested on suspicion of drunk driving.
A short time later, a State Trooper pulled over her husband, Michael Souza, 44, in Lincoln for the same reason.
Troopers say Michael Souza was on his way to the Lincoln Woods State Police Barracks to pick up his wife.
"This particular incident is even more troubling and unbelievable that the husband of the suspect responding to a State Police Facility drove intoxicated to pick up his wife," State Police Colonel Stephen O'Donnell said.
Stephanie Souza took a breathalyzer test at the barracks, and police say her blood alcohol level was .14
Michael Souza had a blood alcohol level of .19, according to police.
Both Michael and Stephanie Souza were arraigned at the Lincoln Woods Barracks and released to a sober family member.
They both have upcoming court dates.
