RI Airport Calls Coast Guard For Search After Radar Issue
WARWICK, R.I. (CBS) - The U.S. Coast Guard was called in to search an area off the coast of Rhode Island Thursday morning, after getting a call from an airport.
Officials at T.F. Green Airport in Warwick alerted the Coast Guard around 7:40 a.m. saying they saw something unusual on their radar.
Vessels searched the water in Warwick Neck area but found nothing.
A Coast Guard spokesperson told WBZ-TV the issue may have been a reflection on the airport's radar.
"No plane has crashed," FAA spokesman Jim Peters told WBZ in an email.
