Rhode Island Police Officer Swept Away By Rip Current While Vacationing
BRISTOL, R.I. (CBS) -- Authorities are searching for a Rhode Island police officer who was pulled away by a rip current while vacationing in Costa Rica on Saturday.
Bristol police said Patrol Officer Richard Jean-Georges was with his family on the Pacific coast when he went missing.
Jean-Georges has been with the department for three years. A team of officers from Bristol were expected to arrive in Costa Rica Tuesday to help search.
"We ask that you keep Ptlm. Jean-Georges and his family in your thoughts," police said.
