Rex Ryan Vows To Best Bill Belichick

FOXBORO (CBS) - It didn't take long for Rex Ryan to start his trash talking.

Sometimes I just think he can't help himself. In his press conference Monday, Rex went right at it.

The personal angle worked in last week's game against the Colts and Ryan was using it again.

"This is about Bill Belichick versus Rex Ryan," Ryan said, addressing the upcoming showdown in Foxboro for the first time.

"There's no question, it's personal. It's about him against myself. That's what it's going to come down to."

Ryan admitted that he was embarrassed and out-coached the last time they played and he wants to make sure that does not happen again.

He said he didn't have his team prepared and that was the reason for the 45-to-3 beating. Rex promises that is not going to happen again.

"This is going to be about me raising my level against Bill Belichick," Ryan said.

"I recognize he's the best. I'm just trying to be the best on Sunday, and I plan on being the best coach on Sunday. ... That's what it is. I recognize my level has to come up. He's going to get my best shot. He's going to get everything I have on Sunday. If he slips at all, we're gonna beat him."

Good to see Rex has the confidence. It will be interesting to see if his quarterback shares that same type of bravado.

 BELICHICK'S RESPONSE

"I might have a little quickness on him, he's probably got a little more strength and power on me," Belichick said Monday on a conference call.

"I don't think you'll see either of us out there making any blocks, or tackles, or runs throws or catches. At least you won't see me doing that. It's probably a good thing for our team."

That's just Bill being Bill and you can expect to get a lot of that this week. Along with a lot of Rex.

BRADY RESPONDS

Tom Brady answered some questions that Ryan brought up in his news conference late last week.

Rex Ryan talks about Tom Brady

In response to Rex's idea that Tom gets help from Bill and the staff on game planning, QB 12 said "yes."

"Of course we do," Brady told a Boston radio station. "I think we have the best coach in the history of football. We have a great offensive staff, a great defensive staff that get all the players prepared."

"Coach talks about being a tough, physical football team that plays well under pressure. Part of us being smart and prepared is our coaches doing their homework. We use whatever we can to get ready to play. The guys that are on this team certainly buy into what our coaches teach us. Coach comes in every Wednesday morning -- it'll be Tuesday morning this week -- and says 'these are the things we need to do to win' and he's right damn near 100 percent of the time."

Brady also believes, there will be a ton of hype around this game but none of it will affect the play on the field on Sunday.

"We're all at the point this year where we're motivated by much more than what someone may say about us," Brady said.

"We're motivated by the fact that we have a great opportunity to be playing a division rival at home in the most important game of the year. That's plenty of motivation for us."

JETS ON FACING PATS

After the Jets win on Saturday night, here's what some of the players had to say about the upcoming game against the Patriots.

WR Braylon Edwards (from @DanWetzel)

"I remember what happened [Dec. 6 in a 45-3 Patriots win] but at the end of the day we know we're better than them. ... If they come at us with their press coverage or man-to-man they did at beginning of the game we'll take advantage of it this time."
OL Damien Woody (from ESPN.com's Tim Graham)
"Couldn't have scripted it better, to get a third opportunity at a team. We split in the regular season, but people don't remember our win. They remember the huge blowout. You're only as good as your last game. So Part III is coming up."

TE Dustin Keller (from the Boston Herald's Karen Guregian)
"They gave us a bad beating the last time we played them. So we feel like it's two games in a row where it's payback time. We're going to get a chance to get back at them."

CB Antonio Cromartie (from the Boston Herald's Karen Guregian)
"That's one game you say you want to forget, but it's still in the back of your mind. You don't forget nothing like that."
