Rex Ryan On Patriots: I Want Them To Know I Think We're Going To Beat Them
BOSTON (CBS) -- Rex Ryan's taken a bit of a toned-down approach to the 2012 season, but now that it's Patriots week, he sure sounds like the same old Rex.
"I just think that I want them to know, and they know, that I think we're going to beat them," the Jets' head coach told the media on Monday in Florham Park, N.J. "We're not going to back down or concede anything."
With all four teams in the AFC East tied with 3-3 records, Ryan said he expects a "slugfest" in the division from here on out. For his Jets, that will begin on Sunday afternoon in Foxboro.
"They're going to get our best shot. We know we're going to get theirs," Ryan said. "It really doesn't matter who says what, but we're going to be ourselves. We're coming up there to take our swing. We'll see if we land that punch to win the game."
Ryan said that the Patriots' coming off a loss is no different than any other meeting with Bill Belichick's team.
"I've got news for everybody -- we always get their best. And they always get ours," Ryan said. "We'll see if our best is better than their best on that particular day."
Despite the Patriots' .500 record, Ryan wouldn't say the team appears more vulnerable than usual.
"Are they more vulnerable? I don't know," Ryan said. "They've lost three games. That's probably more than they normally lose in a season. But we need to worry about ourselves more than anybody else."
