Revolution's Diego Fagundez Voted MLS Player Of The Week

BOSTON (CBS) - New England Revolution midfielder Diego Fagundez has been voted Major League Soccer's Player of the Week ffor the first time in his young career.

The 18-year-old Fagundez, put up a one-goal, two-assist performance in New England's 5-0 victory over the LA Galaxy at Gillette Stadium on Sunday -- extending his goal-scoring streak to four games. Fagundez set up Saer Sene and Lee Nguyen in Sunday's win before netting his fifth goal of the season in the 87th  minute.

Sunday was Fagundez' first multiple-point game of his career and his first career multiple-assist match. His four-game goal-scoring streak is the Revs' longest since Clint Dempsey scored in five straight games between April 9 and May 7, 2005.

The Revolution are now 4-0-1 when Fagundez scores a goal this season.

Fagundez was born in Uruguay but his family moved to Leominster when he was 5-years-old. He signed with the Revolution in November of 2010, becoming the first home-grown player to sign with the club, and has nine career goals in 36 games since making his debut in 2011.
