Revolution Seek 3rd Straight Win Against Chivas
BOSTON (CBS) – The New England Revolution are seeking their third straight win when they take on Chivas USA in Carson, California Saturday night.
The Revolution (2-2-3) are coming off back-to-back wins, a 3-2 win over Sporting Kansas City in MLS play and a 3-2 victory over DC United in the play-in round of the US Open Cup.
In New England's win over Kansasy City, two newcomers helped in a big way. Rajiko Lekic broke a 2-2 tie in the 83rd minute with his first career MLS goal, and Benny Feilhaber assisted on the first goal of the match in his Revs debut. Feilhaber, who was a member of the US Team in the 2010 World Cup, joined New England after spending the past five years in Europe.
Saturday night's trip out West is a bit of a homecoming for Feilhaber, who went to school at UCLA. Chivas USA had the first shot at taking the home-town athlete in the allocation process two weeks ago, but elected not to. The Revolution gladly took on the 26-year-old midfielder after Philadelphia also took a pass.
The addition of the two seemed to spark the Rev's offense, which had been held scoreless in their two previous matches before the six goal outburst last week.
Kheli Dube scored two goals in the win over DC United with Alan Kroger adding the eventual game-winning goal and assist.
Shalrie Joseph leads the team with three goals this season and is also the team's active scoring leader against Chivas with one goal and two assists in nine games.
The Revoltuion-Chivas USA match can be heard on 98.5 The Sports Hub starting at 10:30 pm
