Revolution End Winless Streak With 1-0 Win Over DC United
WASHINGTON (AP) -- Stephen McCarthy's header in the 73rd minute helped the New England Revolution snap a nine-game winless streak and earn their first road victory of the season with a 1-0 win over D.C. United on Wednesday night.
Chris Tierney set up the winner on a corner kick into the middle of the box for McCarthy, who then redirected the ball low down the right side to score his second goal of the season.

The Revolution (4-9-7) had been in the midst of a club-record winless stretch but won their fifth consecutive game against United (5-6-8). D.C. United lost for the first time in six games and haven't won at home since May 4.
United had a chance to strike first in the final moments of the first half when they drew a handball against Pat Phelan in the box. But Charlie Davies missed his first penalty kick in five tries, sending the ball over the middle of the crossbar.
