Revis Rips Brady, Belichick On Instagram; Claims Account Was Hacked
BOSTON (CBS) -- There's just something about being a member of the New York Jets that causes people to say stupid, stupid things.
For the latest evidence, look no further than Darrelle Revis and his Instagram account. The star cornerback fed the trolls over the weekend, getting himself into a back-and-forth in the comments section in which he claimed responsibility for the Patriots winning the Super Bowl, told fans to shut the bleep up, got into a Richard-measuring contest and all in all came across like a complete jack wagon.
And then, of course, he claimed that his account was hacked.
Unfortunately for Revis, nobody believes celebrities when they claim they were hacked. And that's especially true in this case, considering his reaction to being criticized nearly mirrored his response during the infamous Mike Francesa hang-up years ago.
Also unfortunate for Darrelle: Nothing on the Internet ever disappears.
Deadspin captured the screenshots of Revis' Instagram rant, which (with a warning that the words you will read aren't family friendly) you can see here.
Here are some of the highlights of Revis' brilliance. Please forgive the spelling and grammar:
"I gotta a ring, I'm paid & worth more then you. I look better then you & my [something] is bigger then yours so safe all the bull for somebody who cares cause I don't. Your a pimple on my ass [three laughing/crying faces]"
"wait did you physically go out there & play? Like did you actually play one down, lol no. So your best is to shut the [expletive] up, be a spectator, wach me do something you wish you could do [three laughing/crying faces]"
And when told that he had never won until he hitched his wagon to Tom Brady and Bill Belichick, Revis seemed to say that he sees it the other way around.
"& they ain't win another one until I came [jerk] head so who got who a ring," Revis said (or didn't say, if you believe him). "[Poop] I didn't have to go there so basically I did bill & Tom a favor not the other way around [bad word]."
Now, if Revis had said this to an astute observer rather than an Instagram troll, he might have been informed that Steve Smith stole Revis' lunch money in the divisional round, and that it took Tom Brady throwing for 367 yards and three touchdowns, plus Julian Edelman throwing for a 51-yard score, in order for the Patriots to avoid the fate of going one-and-done. An informed follower also could have noted that if not for Brady completing 13 of 15 passes for 124 yards and two touchdowns in the fourth quarter against the Seahawks, and if not for a one-in-a-billion play by undrafted rookie cornerback Malcolm Butler, then there'd be no Super Bowl victory on Darrelle Revis' resume.
So ... who got who a ring?
Ah, but of course, Revis claims the words didn't come from him.
That might be the worst "I got hacked" claim in history. You have to at least respect the chutzpah of that.
If you search through Revis' Twitter history, you'll see that he commonly makes the than/then error that he did on Instagram over the weekend (examples here, here, here, here, and here). He has also responded with the "You don't play football" line before, as you can see here. He also has a propensity for telling people to shut up, which you can see here.
I'm sure Revis' account was hacked all of those times, going back five years, as well. No big deal!!!
