Return of the sun!
After the coolest day in over a month, are you ready for the sun to return? Friday should deliver, with warmer temperatures reaching up toward 80 in the afternoon. The change in the weather? A wind shift! The backdoor cool front that swept through Wednesday night will lift back northward as a warm front, which will help add a warming westerly wind component on Friday. It'll also keep the maritime air at bay. So all in all, a great way to kick of the holiday weekend.
As we head into that holiday weekend, things get a little trickier. A weak disturbance may bring a shower Friday night, and hang out on Saturday to help produce scattered thunderstorms. It'll be warm and muggier, but the rain shouldn't be widespread enough to warrant canceling plans. Just keep in mind that if you're headed to the beach or having a family picnic, you'll want a contingency plan if a storm moves over your neighborhood!
On Sunday it looks like the weather may behave a little better for us. There will still be some pop-up thunderstorms in the afternoon, but currently am thinking the majority of them will stay away from the beaches. The highest chance of seeing rain will be across the spine of New England. So campers in the Green or White Mountains, plus the Berkshires, will have to monitor the weather again.
By Labor Day itself, a cold front will slowly approach from the west. This will draw up a moist southerly wind, which means more clouds and a high chance of showers and storms. If there were one day to avoid going to the beach this Labor Day Weekend, Monday will probably end up being it. That same front will linger on Tuesday before finally moving out to sea Tuesday night.
