Retailers Race To Get Ready For Black Friday Shoppers
BOSTON (CBS) - This year, more stores are opening at midnight for Black Friday shoppers looking for a bargain.
Denise Normandin, the manager of the Old Navy at the Cambridgeside Galleria, says this is a first for their store. She says, "It's going to be a fun, crazy time. We're ready to go. The customers are going to Target, they're going to Walmart, why not get them first?"
Normandin and her team must have everything in place for the crowds tonight, because by law in Massachusetts they can't work on Thanksgiving, and the store will open at 12:05 a.m. on Friday.
WBZ-TV's Karen Anderson reports
Normandin says she loves making a fun atmosphere for customers on Black Friday. In addition to the sales, like fleece scarves for a dollar and 50% off jackets, she says there will be entertainment, too.

Normandin says, "We are having two of our sales associates dancing every hour on the stage and hopefully a DJ." She says, "We're going to be passing out 3-D glasses to all the customers to see the deals…. The first 70 customers are going to get a camera. That's our giveaway."
Tess Ortiz of Somerville came to check out the scene on Wednesday, and plans to be back on shopping at midnight on Friday. "Good deals. I like the thrill. It's fun get up early in the morning."
