Coast Guard Rescues Gloucester Fisherman
SOUTHWEST HARBOR, Maine (AP) -- A Coast Guard helicopter has successfully retrieved a fisherman who suffered an apparent heart attack 60 miles off the Maine coast.
Lt. Nick Barrow says a helicopter was dispatched from Cape Cod on Saturday after a 32-year-old crew member of the fishing boat Diane Lynn II began suffering symptoms consistent with a heart attack. The man was conscious when he was rescued at 2:45 p.m.
Barrow said the rescue took place in rain and wind. The man was being taken to the Bangor airport, and then to a hospital.
The Diane Lynn is based out of Gloucester, Mass. Barrow says it's fishing about 60 miles of Southwest Harbor, Maine.
