Reports: Wilcox Returning To Celtics
BOSTON (CBS) - The Boston Celtics roster is molding into shape, as the team has reportedly re-signed center Chris Wilcox to the veteran minimum.
Wilcox played in 28 games for Boston last season, which included getting the start in the season opener against the Knicks on Christmas Day, until a heart ailment cut his season short. When on the floor, Wilcox averaged 5.4 points and 4.4 rebounds in 17.2 minutes per game.
The 10-year veteran was sidelined in March after a routine test revealed an aortic irregularity. Wilcox underwent surgery later that month and just resumed basketball activities last week.

The Celtics waived Wilcox after he went down to make room for Ryan Hollins, but bringing him back will add some much-needed depth to the Celtics frontcourt.
After a slow start to the season, Wilcox put together a strong mid-season stretch, averaging six points and seven rebounds per game in January. He became a solid running mate with Rajon Rondo, hooking up with the C's point guard for a couple of emphatic alley-oops.

With Wilcox back in the fold, the Celtics now have another big body to play in the paint alongside either Kevin Garnett or Brandon Bass, or on the second unit. The Celtics also added size in the draft, selecting forward Jared Sullinger and center Fab Melo in the first round, to go with last year's first round selection JaJuan Johnson.
