Reports: Tim Wallach To Interview For Red Sox Managerial Job
BOSTON (CBS) -- The Red Sox are wasting little time in their search for a new manager this offseason, reportedly scheduling an interview with Dodgers third base coach Tim Wallach.
A number of news outlets reported that the interview is scheduled for Friday.
"It's the Red Sox. It's one of the top organizations in all of baseball," Wallach told the Los Angeles Times. "We all know how last year went. It's not a picture of who they are. They were a top organization for a long, long time. It's certainly something I'm not afraid to be a part of."
Wallach, 55, has managerial experience for the Dodgers' Triple-A affiliate in Albuquerque, earning Pacific Coast League manager of the year in 2009.
The Times noted that the Red Sox wanted to interview Wallach last year,"but a provision in his contract prevented him from interviewing for the job."
Wallach played parts of 17 seasons in MLB for the Expos, Dodgers and Angels. He hit .257 with 260 home runs and 1,125 RBIs. He made five All-Star teams and three Gold Gloves at third base.
