Reports: Rick Nash Traded To New York Rangers
BOSTON (CBS) -- The trade that's looked inevitable yet completely impossible for so long has finally been made, and Rick Nash is no longer a member of the Columbus Blue Jackets.
The 28-year-old winger has been traded to the New York Rangers, according to several reports. TSN's Darren Dreger was the first to report the story on Twitter on Monday afternoon.
TSN reported that the Rangers sent Artem Anisimov, Brandon Dubinsky, Tim Erixon and a first-round pick to Columbus to complete the trade.
Nash is just two seasons into an eight-year, $62.4 million contract that counts for $7.8 million against the cap each year.
His name has been involved in trade discussions since last summer, though Blue Jackets GM Scott Howson held very high demands for the return he wanted.
The Rangers made it to overtime of Game 6 of the Eastern Conference finals last season against New Jersey. Nash's 30 goals last year would have ranked him second on the Rangers, behind only Marian Gaborik (41), and Nash's 59 points would have ranked third behind Gaborik (76) and Brad Richards (66).
