Kendrick Perkins Arrested For Public Intoxication, Disorderly Conduct

BEAUMONT, Texas (CBS) - Former Celtics center Kendrick Perkins was arrested early Saturday morning in Beaumont, Texas for charges including disorderly conduct and public intoxication, police said.

Beaumont police said they noticed a large crowd outside "The Ticket" club at around 2 a.m., and when officers went inside to investigate, they noticed club staff members trying to get everyone to leave. Officers said that a large group of people gathered around Perkins, who was "having a disturbance with the management of the club."

Police said the crowd managed to push Perkins outside the club, where he continued to yell obscenities and was belligerent with some of the people who apparently tried to help him calm down.

Officers attempted to convince Perkins to leave, but the former Celtic continued to yell and was subsequently arrested. He was booked without incident at the Jefferson County Jail on a public intoxication charge and a disorderly conduct charge related to the foul language use.

According to a report by CBSSports.com, Celtics guard Rajon Rondo, Bucks forward Stephen Jackson and Thunder forward Kevin Durant were in Beaumont for Perk's basketball camp this weekend.

KFDM-News is reporting that Perk was taken by ambulance from Jackson's home on Thursday night due to possible dehydration. As a result of his hospitalization, Perk's charity game on Friday was not held, and he did not attend the subsequent banquet, according to the report.

Perk, who has averaged 6.4 points and 6.1 rebounds over his career, was traded with Nate Robinson to the Thunder this past season for Jeff Green and Nenad Krstic.
