Reports: Josh Hamilton, Angels Agree On Five-Year Contract
BOSTON (CBS) -- The biggest name on baseball's free-agent market appears to have found a new home.
According to Fox Sports' Ken Rosenthal, Josh Hamilton and the Angels are close to agreeing to a five-year contract.
News of Hamilton and the Angels' "serious" discussions spread quickly Thursday, and apparently it didn't take long to come to an agreement. Financial terms were not immediately reported.
Hamilton had reportedly been mulling a three-year offer from the Phillies earlier in the week.
The addition of Hamilton makes the Angels' lineup even more formidable. Albert Pujols, last year's huge free-agent splash, as well as MVP runner-up Mike Trout already pack a powerful punch in the heart of L.A.'s order, and adding Hamilton of course adds to it.
Hamilton has hit .313 with a .952 OPS over the past three seasons, averaging 33 homers and 107 RBIs for the Rangers.
