Reports: Jarome Iginla Would Accept Trade To Bruins
BOSTON (CBS) -- The thought of Jarome Iginla donning a Black and Gold sweater in the coming weeks has been a pipe dream for many fans, but a report over the weekend indicates it may not be a far-fetched idea at all.
According to TSN's Darren Dreger, Iginla has submitted a list of four teams to which he'd accept a trade. Those teams are Boston, Pittsburgh, Chicago and Los Angeles. Iginla has a no-movement clause in his contract, so he would be able to veto any trade to a team he didn't want to join.
The 35-year-old will be an unrestricted free agent after the season. He has nine goals (including the game-winner on Sunday) and 13 assists in 30 games this year for the 12-14-4 Flames this season. He's played in more than 1,200 NHL games, all for Calgary, without winning a Stanley Cup.
The price tag to acquire is expected to be rather high, though the limited list of teams is sure to reduce Calgary GM Jay Feaster's power in terms of trade demands. The Penguins are almost assuredly out of the pursuit for Iginla after acquiring Brenden Morrow over the weekend. The Globe and Mail reported that Calgary wanted a top-four defensive prospect, a draft pick and a current roster player.
