WBZ-TV's Sera Congi reports
Erdman's mother, 37-year-old Kathryn Erdmann, and the home owners, 64-year-old Paul Shay and 58-year-old Monica Shay, of New York City, are all in critical condition.
There have been no arrests. None of the survivors has been able to talk yet.
According to reports, Kathryn Erdmann was Joseph Shay's girlfriend.
The Philadelphia Inquirer reported that Shay had an extensive criminal record and spent time in jail for drug dealing and larceny.
The home owners are believed to be Shea's aunt and uncle.
Police think the shootings may have been a mass execution because all five victims were shot in the head with a small caliber handgun at close range.
