Report: Tuukka Rask Suffers Apparent Injury During Game In Czech Republic
BOSTON (CBS) -- There's currently no end in sight to the NHL lockout, and there's no guarantee hockey will be played in the NHL at all this year. Still, Bruins fans are not going to enjoy hearing this.
While playing for HC Plzeň in the Czech Republic, goaltender Tuukka Rask left a game Tuesday after the first period.
According to reporter Roman Jedlicka, Rask played the first period but did not return for the second.
Jedlicka reported that it appeared to be a groin injury.
"It looks like mild groin injury [because] Rask finished 1st period and didn't appear for 2nd," he tweeted.
The injury may not be serious. On Wednesday morning, The Boston Globe's Kevin Paul Dupont tweeted that Rask's agent said that the goaltender is "fine" and is "likely to play on Friday."
Rask, 25, was set to be the Bruins' full-time, No. 1 netminder this season, after Tim Thomas announced he'd be spending the year away from hockey. Rask missed the final month of the season last year after suffering a groin injury on March 3 against the Islanders.
The Bruins currently only have Anton Khudobin as a potential NHL-ready goaltender on the roster, though he has just five career starts at the NHL level.
