Report: Tom Brady Will Play In Preseason Opener Against Saints
BOSTON (CBS) -- There's good news for Patriots fans eager to see football return. Tom Brady will play Thursday night.
That's according to The Boston Globe's Greg Bedard, who reported via Twitter that the Patriots' quarterback will play in the team's preseason opener against the Saints at Gillette Stadium.
Last year, after the lockout, Brady didn't play at all in the team's preseason opener.
When Brady did make his preseason debut the following week against Tampa Bay, he played quite a bit. He completed 11 of 19 passes for 118 yards and two touchdowns, including one to Chad Johnson (then Ochocinco). The following week, Brady went 12-for-22 for 145 yards, one touchdown and one interception against the Lions.
How much Brady will play on Thursday night is still unknown, though the Patriots do not have another game for 10 days, so it could be somewhat significant.
Saints quarterback Drew Brees played just one series last week in the team's preseason opener.
