Report: Tim Tebow To Request Trade From Jets
BOSTON (CBS) -- Last year, the nation was captivated by Tebowmania, but his trade to the New York Jets in the offseason proved similar to signing up for the witness protection program.
Now, apparently, Tim Tebow is looking for a better opportunity.
The backup quarterback will request to be traded or released after season, according to the New York Daily News. The decision was made after Jets head coach Rex Ryan decided to bench Mark Sanchez and declared Greg McElroy the starting quarterback this Sunday and is dependent upon McElroy starting in Week 17 as well.
Tebow went 7-4 as the Broncos' starter last season before leading Denver to a playoff victory over the Pittsburgh Steelers. This year, though, he's attempted just eight passes, completing six of them for 39 yards. He's added just 102 rushing yards on 32 attempts, compared to his 660 yards on 122 attempts last season.
Tebow hasn't spoken out publicly against the Jets, who are 6-8 and won't make the playoffs this season.
