Theo Epstein Close To Joining Chicago Cubs
BOSTON (CBS) - WBZ-TV has learned that Theo Epstein is likely headed to the Chicago Cubs, but that no deal has been completed.
It is expected that Epstein would assume a higher position with the Cubs, adding the title of President.
There is still some work to do to get this deal completed, with compensation a possible hold up.
The Red Sox would be looking for perhaps a player in return since Epstein has one year left on his contract. ESPN is reporting no major league player would be included in the Red Sox' compensation, but it could include minor league prospects and cash.
Steve Buckley of the Boston Herald first reported that a deal was close.
The sources say that an announcement is supposed to be made in the next "24 to 48 hours."
