Report: Reggie Bush Agrees To Deal With San Francisco
BOSTON (CBS) -- Reggie Bush is not coming to New England after all.
Bush, who reportedly was at Gillette Stadium for a visit on Friday, left without a deal and will now be signing elsewhere, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter.
Schefter reported on Saturday afternoon that the versatile running back has agreed to terms on a contract with the San Francisco 49ers.
The Patriots lost Shane Vereen to the New York Giants, via free agency, as the running back signed a three-year, $12.35 million deal this week. Bush had figured to be an option to replace Vereen as a receiving threat out of the backfield who can still takes some carries each game.
Bush, 30, was drafted No. 2 overall by the Saints back in 2006. He played five seasons for New Orleans before spending two seasons with Miami and two seasons with Detroit.
His reported new contract will bring him back to the state where he became a college star at the University of Southern California.
In 116 career games, Bush rushed 1,266 times for 5,465 yards (4.3 YPC) and 35 touchdowns. He's also caught 466 passes for 3,489 yards (7.5 average) and 18 TDs.
Last year in 11 games with Detroit, he rushed for 297 yards and two touchdowns on 76 carries while making 40 catches for 253 yards and no touchdowns.
From 2011-13, he averaged over 1,000 rushing yards per season while running for 16 touchdowns in 45 games.
