Report: Red Sox Tried To Trade For Mets SP Chris Capuano
BOSTON (CBS) - The Red Sox have been trying to obtain Mets starter Chris Capuano for several days, according to the Boston Herald.
The Sox offered the Mets cash for the 33-year-old lefthander so he could start in Sunday's game at Yankee Stadium. John Lackey or Erik Bedard will likely get that start instead.
The report says the Mets intend to keep Capuano, who is 11-12 with a 4.47 ERA this season.
The Red Sox, who are 5-16 in September, are just trying to increase their chances of making the playoffs. If they acquired Capuano, he would not be eligible for postseason play.
