Red Sox Trade Lars Anderson To Indians For Steven Wright
BOSTON (CBS) -- The Red Sox traded Lars Anderson to the Cleveland organization on Tuesday, receiving pitcher Steven Wright in return.
Anderson was a highly rated prospect in the Red Sox' organization, but his career never panned out in Boston the way it was expected. Still just 24 years old, Anderson is 8-for-48 in his limited big league experience. In Triple-A this year, he's hitting .259 with nine home runs and 52 RBIs. A former first baseman, the Red Sox transitioned Anderson to the outfield after the acquisition and long-term extension for Adrian Gonzalez.
Wright, 27, is 9-6 with a 2.49 ERA for the Double-A Akron Aeros this season. He has 12 career appearances at Triple-A, where he's 0-1 with a 6.63 ERA.
