Red Sox Reach Deal With Outfielder Cody Ross
BOSTON (CBS) - The Boston Red Sox have reached an agreement with free agent outfielder Cody Ross.
WBZ-TV's Dan Roche says the one-year deal is worth $3 million, and is pending a physical.
Ross, who was the MVP of the 2010 NLCS, batted .240, with 14 home runs and 52 RBI last season.
Ken Rosenthal of Fox Sports was first to report the deal.
Ross will fill in for a potentially depleted outfield at the beginning of the season.
Ryan Kalish and Carl Crawford are both recovering from injuries, leaving the Red Sox with just three major league outfielders on the roster in Jacoby Ellsbury, Ryan Sweeney, and Darnell McDonald.
Mike Aviles, a career infielder, may also see some time in the outfield.
