Report: Red Sox' Jenks Has Second Surgery
BOSTON (CBS) - Red Sox reliever Bobby Jenks had a second procedure done on his back this offseason and will not be ready for the start of spring training, according to a report.
Jenks, who underwent surgery at Massachusetts General Hospital in December to remove bone fragments from his lower back, had a second spinal decompression in Phoenix recently, according to the Boston Globe. The second procedure was necessary after more bone fragments were discovered and will likely keep Jenks out until mid or late-March.

The righty reliever is in the second year of a two-year, $12 million deal with Boston. Jenks missed much of the 2011 season due to back issues and then the discovery of a pulmonary embolism, which required treatment prior to his first back surgery.
