Report: Red Sox Interested In SP Mark Buehrle
BOSTON (CBS) - The Red Sox are among at least four teams interested in free agent starting pitcher Mark Buehrle, according to FOXSports.com.
The Marlins, Yankees and Rangers are among the other teams interested in Buehrle, who will be 33 on Opening Day. The Marlins are meeting with the lefty on Tuesday, according to the report.
Buehrle has spent his entire 12-year career with the White Sox, winning a World Series with the team in 2005. He has a 161-119 record with a 3.83 ERA in his career.
A four-time All-Star, Buehrle is known for his durability, having started at least 30 times every season since 2001. The Red Sox starters, on the other hand, have been anything but durable in recent years. Jon Lester is the only Sox SP to make at least 30 starts in each of the last two seasons (he's actually done it in four straight).
Buehrle has three straight Gold Gloves, a 2007 no-hitter, and a 2009 perfect game to his credit.
