Report: Red Sox Interested In Marlins' Johnson, Sanchez
BOSTON (CBS) - With the Boston Red Sox just 13-23 in games started by Jon Lester and Josh Beckett, there is little surprise they are looking for help in their starting rotation as the MLB trade deadline draws near.
According to a report by ESPNBoston's Joe McDonald, the Red Sox have expressed interest in Miami Marlins pitchers Josh Johnson and Anibal Sanchez.
Johnson is 5-7 this season with a 4.35 ERA. The right-hander has spent all seven of his MLB seasons with the Marlins, sporting a 53-30 record and a very respectable 3.16 ERA.

The 28-year-old Johnson, a two-time All-Star, is under contract through the 2013 season, and will make $13.75 million next season.
Red Sox GM Ben Cherington is no stranger to Sanchez, who was signed by the Red Sox in 2001 when Cherington was in charge of the organization's farm system. The right-hander was dealt to the Marlins along with Hanley Ramirez and Guillermo Mota as part of the Josh Beckett/Mike Lowell trade in 2005.

Also 28, Sanchez has a career 44-45 record with a 3.75 ERA over seven seasons with the Marlins. He is 5-7 with a 3.94 ERA this season. Sanchez had a horrible month of June, going 1-3 with a 7.06 ERA in five starts, but has gone seven innings in each of his last two outings, allowing three runs or less in each of them.
Sanchez will become a free agent at the end of the season.
