Red Sox Acquire Fernando Abad
BOSTON (CBS) -- Dave Dombrowski made a move to acquire a left-handed pitcher from the AL Central on Monday, but it wasn't the one everybody's talking about.
The Red Sox acquired reliever Fernando Abad from the Twins, sending Pat Light to Minnesota to complete the deal.
Light has a 2.32 ERA in Triple-A this season in 31 innings of work. He made two major league appearances this year, allowing eight runs (seven earned) in just 2 2/3 innings.
In his seven-year career, the 30-year-old owns a 6-24 record, 3.58 ERA and 1.293 WHIP. This season, he's 1-4 with a 2.65 ERA and 1.206 WHIP. He's finished eight games and has recorded one save.
His best season was two years ago, in 2014, when he made 69 appearances and posted a 1.57 ERA and 0.855 WHIP.
Abad is arbitration eligible after this season.
