Report: Phillies Mackanin Interested In Red Sox Job
BOSTON (AP/CBS) --The Boston Red Sox need a new manager, and one candidate is stating his interest.
Philadelphia Phillies bench coach Pete Mackanin tells ESPN.com's Jayson Stark he would love to manage and would definitely have interest in the vacant Boston Red Sox job.

According to sources, Mackanin is one of the candidates the Red Sox plan to interview.
Mackanin has been with the Phillies since 2009. He served as interim manager for both the Reds and the Pirates, and managed in the minor leagues from 1985 to 2001.

Mackanin had a nine-year Major League career, playing for the Washington Senators, Texas Rangers, Montreal Expos, Phillies and Minnesota Twins.
