Report: Payton Approaches Parcells About Saints' Job
BOSTON (CBS) – With his suspension for the upcoming NFL season beginning April 1, New Orleans Saints head coach Sean Payton has entertained the idea of having his former mentor Bill Parcells coaching the team on an interim basis, ESPN is reporting.
Payton was suspended for the 2012 NFL season after it was discovered the Saints defense had a bounty system in place with incentives for injuring opposing players.
Payton has yet to name an interim head coach.

According to the report, Payton and Parcells have spoken several times since the suspension came down last week, although it is unclear if Parcells, now 70, would take the job.
Payton worked under Parcells with the Dallas Cowboys from 2003-05, and has regularly sought his advice since taking over the Saints in 2006.

Parcells has 22 years of head coaching experience under his belt, including two Super Bowl Championships with the Giants during the 1980's. He coached the New England Patriots from 1993-1996, amassing a 32-32 record with a trip to Super Bowl in 1996.
